2014 Marketing Plan, Tough Decisions? We'll Help.

So it is the time of the year that most people are budgeting money, throwing ideas back and forth about what to do in 2014 in regards to marketing. If you're like most small businesses, you only have money for one project this year so you need to choose wisely. With an ever growing number in customer smartphone interactions, there is no doubt that you need to invest in some type of mobile app or mobile friendly website for your customers. But you don't have money, what do you do?

No sweat, we have you covered.

Mobile Friendly Website

A mobile friendly website is a website that displays your information on a users smartphone in a pleasing fashion. For example when you go to an optimized website, you do not need to pinch & zoom. All of the information fits your phone and looks great. There is no doubt you need some type of mobile friendly website, but after you get it...what will you do with it? You should interact with consumers in some type of way, because communication builds relationships and relationships build sales. We all know that sales is the driving force keeping any business alive.

So you are thinking about investing in a mobile friendly website as a start with your limited budget but you still need to communicate with users. You can use a free email marketing service to do this! There are tons out there like MailChimp, Constant Contact, Emma & many others. We actually use a few of those in our mobile apps and help integrate your email marketing efforts with mobile. (CLICK HERE to learn more about mobile app email marketing) The only downside to email marketing is the open rates are pretty low, like about 3-25% low. You'll be very lucky to have higher than 20% open rates and if you do, please email us some of your strategies as we would love to use them. But in all honesty, people are bombarded with sales emails all the time so they are less likely to read yours.

Mobile Apps

We are now on the same page that a new mobile website would be great and you can communicate via email marketing but just be prepared for low open rates. Now we are getting into marketing your business and building communication with customers by implementing a mobile app for them. Did you know that mobile apps have about a 97% open / read rate? If we compare that to a low 20%, this is a very pleasing number as a business owner.

Remember, communication is key to building sales so it is vital you pick some ways of communication that will effectively work for your business in your marketing for 2014. There are millions of ways you can do this, but we just wanted to cover mobile web & mobile apps. Give us some feedback & let us know what your businesses 2014 marketing plans are if you are going mobile. We would love to hear about it.
